Gorham Savings Bank, in celebration of its 150th anniversary, announced it will grant up to $150,000 of wishes over 150 days as part of a community giving program called Wish Tree.

Putting their own spin on the age-old tradition, the Bank placed a Wish Tree in each of their branches and is inviting customers and non-customers alike to drop by, write down their wish on a special tag, and tie the tag to the tree – now through November 15.

Wishes can be made for a friend, family member, acquaintance, or even oneself. Of course, every wish can’t be granted, however the bank is seeking to make the greatest impact to the greatest number of people with the program’s funds.

Each month, from July through November, the bank will grant up to $10,000 worth of wishes and at the conclusion of the 150 days, in December, will grant up to $100,000 more. Wish recipients may receive their wish at a branch or in some cases the bank will deliver it to a practical location.

“This initiative is about giving back to a community that has given so much to us over the past 150 years,” said Steve deCastro, president of Gorham Savings Bank. “We always strive to be a force for good in our community and we hope this program brings people a bit of joy, and in some small way can change some local lives for the better.”
